Nick is the founder of the original The Church Tattoo and, depending on who you ask, either the heartbeat of the studio or the reason nobody can hear themselves think half the time. Loud, constantly talking, and usually discussing either tattoos or food, Nick has become just as known for his personality and energy around the studio as he has for his tattooing.
Specialising in large-scale black and grey surrealism, his work combines heavy contrast, atmosphere, texture, and storytelling to create tattoos that feel bold, dramatic, and built specifically for the body they sit on. Pulling inspiration from everything from mythology and cinema to religion, dark art, and anime, his pieces are designed to evolve naturally with the client while still holding strong visual impact from across the room.
Rather than simply copying references, Nick prefers to work collaboratively with clients to create tattoos that feel unique to them while still functioning as strong, long-lasting pieces of artwork. Large-scale projects are where he feels most at home, particularly sleeves, back pieces, and full concepts that allow ideas to develop organically over multiple sessions.
Outside of tattooing, food is a genuine obsession. Whether he's talking about restaurants, cooking, takeaway spots, or planning the next studio meal before lunch has even finished, it's rare for a conversation around him not to drift back towards something edible. That same passion for bringing people together carries heavily into the culture of The Church Tattoo itself, where creating a welcoming, honest, and genuinely enjoyable environment has always been just as important as the tattoos.
While the studio has grown massively over the years, Nick still approaches tattooing and the people around him with the same excitement and energy that built the original version of The Church in the first place — just with slightly more experience and probably even more volume.
